The Basics of Heating Systems

Most homes are heated with forced-air furnaces. These are commonly fueled by natural gas, but can be run by electricity, liquid propane or fuel oil. Many homes in the northeast USA have a boiler.

Forced-air furnaces work by heating air and blowing that air through a system of ductwork in a home. The air circulates back to the furnace via return vents and is filtered to remove dust and particles.

A boiler system heats water which is sent through pipes to radiators in a home. The heat then dissipates from the radiator into the rooms of the home. No air is exchanged in this process which gives homes with this type of heat a stuffy feeling during use. To alleviate this room humidifiers can be installed.

There is a type of heating called radiant heating that is coming back into popularity. This heating systemuses electric cables or small tubes of heated water which are run under the flooring. Even sidewalks and driveways can have this type of system installed.

Whichever type of heating system you have Yuhan Heating and Air Conditioning can service, maintain, fix and install upgrades for it. We also work with new home construction to install complete systems and air quality devices.
